It's funny how you can be a serious musician for many years and not even KNOW that you are not in tune as you could be!!! I used the Boss TU12 for years, and more recently tuned by ear using 4ths and 5ths, etc. Absolutely love this amazing piece of gear. If you can figure out a way to get one, I strongly recommend you do so - you absolutely won't regret it. #PETERSON VS 1 VIRTUAL STROBE TUNER FULL#I'd say this is due to a 75% "Martin Factor", a 23% "Peterson Factor", and a 2% "Playing Ability Factor".īest Peterson Moment: Pulling out my OMC-28LJ at a friends' house party, tuning up to the StroboFlip's DADGAD setting, and doing a full Open D strum and letting it ring.all conversation stopped on a dime. Granted, playing a Martin OM will generally get you positive feedback anyway but the number of "Wow, that sounds nice!" comments really has increased. One last observation: Since using the Peterson, I've had considerably more people tell me how good my guitar sounds. The reward comes at the end of the session when I tune up with the Peterson for the last few minutes - always amazes me how much more beautiful the guitars sounds, and how far off I was (!). I just sit down, tune by ear, grimace a little, and then play for a while. I've started forcing myself to use my ear only once or twice a week during my practice sessions. Tuning by ear seems to have become more difficult and yields much poorer results. I suppose one possible downside is that I've become very dependent on my 'Flip for the absolute best tuning I can get. I took the plunge, spent the money, and have never once regretted the decision. I nearly talked myself out buying one with the following argument: How much better could a Peterson possibly be for so much more money? In the end, it was the product reviews and a basic understanding of strobe technology that did the trick. After all, I had been a happy BOSS TU and Korg user for many, many years. As so many here have said, how could you possibly justify spending $200 for a tuner?!?! I had a hard time with it myself while considering this purchase.
